The reason they keep saying that is because it true! 700 inhabited islands, 2400 uninhabited Cays, Crystal-clear waters with superb fishing and diving. With hundreds of splendid islands and hidden cays to choose from, the Bahamas truly offer something for everyone.

If it’s a private corner of paradise that you seek, just take your pick, most of the islands are uninhabited. Historically, the Grand Bahamas Island has been appreciated for its shallow crystal clear waters, sport-fishing, laid-back cruising and uniquely remote atmosphere.

Today, a growing number of luxurious resorts compliment the other attributes in this immense charter region. The fabulous Atlantis Paradise Island Resort adjacent to Nassau, for example features an enclosed glass walkway weaving throughout an aquarium brimming with sea life ranging from spotted eagle rays to hammerhead sharks.

Try your luck at the fantastic casinos or browse around the stylish shops. Cruise around Bimini, Eleuthera and the Berry Islands to soak up the relaxed atmosphere and tropical waters before heading on to Grand Bahama Island, a mecca for exciting water sports. Head ashore for gambling, duty-free shopping and the world famous International Bazaar at Freeport, a must for even the most seasoned traveler while on the Grand Bahama Island. Here the quality and choice are unique, whether you want Columbian emeralds, fine English bone china or freshwater pearls. Sail on to Great Abaco and Green Turtle Cay, a renowned rendezvous for the fashionable set.

Still want more?...

Still want more? About a hundred miles south of the Abacos, even more spectacular cruising is to be found in the Exumas, home of the Bahamas Land and Sea Park. Many, many uninhabited cays create a smooth-water buffer from the Atlantic, while the sparsely ones like Highbourne Cay entice yachtsmen with a snug little harbor and world famous bone-fishing. Further south, Staniel Cay is home to Thunderball Cave, where the James Bond movie Thunderball was filmed. The cave has been compared to the Blue Grotto in Capri but, this one is much more accessible and brimming with sea life and light. Later enjoy a cocktail on deck as the sun sets behind an array of dainty flamingoes, a fitting backdrop to another perfect day.
