For the fourth year in a row, Nicholson Yachts will be joining elite sponsors such as Volvo Cars, the Tennis Channel, Antigua Performance Apparel, and Verizon as the Volvo Car Open welcomes the world’s top women’s tennis players to its colorful courts in Charleston, SC.
Each spring, the City of Charleston and Daniel Island serve as a backdrop to one of the richest and most traditional events in women’s professional tennis.
The Volvo Car Open, a World Tennis Association Premier Event, has a roster of past champions that include some of the biggest names in the history of women’s tennis including Chris Evert, Martina Navratilova, Tracy Austin, Steffi Graf, Gabriela Sabatini, Martina Hingis, Jennifer Capriati, Venus Williams, Justine Henin, Serena Williams, and Caroline Wozniacki.
“We always enjoy inviting our yachting clients and owners to the Charleston area. We are proud that the Nicholson Yachts brand will be shared by such a diverse audience over the period of April first through ninth,” said Karen Kelly Shea, president and CEO. “It is our pleasure to join with tennis fans from all over the world in such a picturesque setting.”
The Volvo Car Open receives coverage of more than 100 hours of tennis; live from Charleston, broadcast across the globe to millions of fans.
Most recently, the tournament formally partnered with the Tennis Channel as their new domestic broadcast partner. In conjunction with WTA Media, the televised commitment will showcase the 2017 Volvo Car Open from the first ball struck to last ball played, throughout the U.S. and our 174 international partners worldwide. As part of its sponsorship, Nicholson Yachts will be featured within the private Ace Club, a place where box holders can gather exclusively during the week.
