A Transformative Year for Charter Yachting
As a veteran Charter Specialist exploring the world’s best charter yachts, one standout feature defined the 2025 BVI Charter Yacht Show: Out of all the yachts showcased, not a single one was a monohull. The entire show featured only power catamarans and sailing catamarans—a remarkable evolution considering it has been just 25 years since catamarans first began carving out their place in the industry.
The Rise of the Multihull: Space, Comfort, and Innovation
Catamarans entered the charter scene in the early 40-foot range and quickly gained momentum. The addition of upper bridge decks accelerated their popularity, and over time, sizes increased, features expanded, and crews embraced these vessels for their comfort and efficiency.
A 60-foot catamaran offers the equivalent waterline of a 120-foot monohull thanks to its twin hulls and substantial central platform. Layouts vary, with galleys placed either on the main deck or below in one of the hulls. Guest cabins—typically located in the hulls—offer excellent space, privacy, and storage. It’s hard to deny that multihull vessels deliver exceptional volume and are one of the most versatile platforms for on-water enjoyment.

Crews, Culinary Excellence, and an Evolving BVI Experience
Beyond the yachts themselves, the crews showcased extraordinary professionalism. Captains hold proper licenses, crews maintain STCW certifications, and many chefs have received formal culinary training—something that was unmistakably reflected in the cuisine. Evaluating each crew and identifying ideal charter guest matches was a highlight of the show.
The surrounding BVI environment remains as breathtaking as ever: crystalline Caribbean water, lush green islands near and far, beautiful beaches, and calm anchorages. Yet the infrastructure supporting charters has evolved significantly. New marinas, enhanced marine services, more provisioning options, and an increase in daily flights all contribute to a higher level of convenience and service for charter operations.
A Showcase of Excellence in an Iconic Destination
The 2025 BVI Charter Yacht Show delivered an impressive display of yachts, crews, and hospitality, all set against the timeless beauty of the Virgin Islands. It was a privilege to experience such a dynamic blend of innovation and natural splendor—proof that the BVI continues to rise as one of the world’s premier charter destinations.
