OHP Fundraising Party Hosted by Newport Shipyard on June 30th
As Rhode Island’s official sailing educational vessel, Oliver Hazard Perry‘s mission is to provide innovative, empowering education-at-sea programs that promote personal and professional growth. With past voyages to Cuba and Bermuda, the possibilities are endless on the 200-foot tall ship! Celebrate OHP’s mission by attending the annual summer fundraising party hosted by the Newport Shipyard, this Friday, June 30th from 6:00pm – 11:00pm. Throughout the evening, guests can enjoy cocktails, dinner, dancing and dessert while participating in a live and silent auction that directly supports the educational vessel.
About the Oliver Hazard Perry:
SSV Oliver Hazard Perry is the largest civilian sailing school vessel in the United States and is also the first ocean-going full-rigged ship built in the U.S. in over 100 years. Her accommodations hold 32 people overnight in addition to her 17 professional crew. Aboard the ship, passengers are considered part of the crew and are expected to haul lines, take the helm and climb aloft. The primary focus is on learning “from sailing” rather than learning to sail. This past year, OHP sailed to Cuba and Bermuda with local Roger High School students!
