Imagine the world’s cruising grounds decades from now – no fish, no coral, but garbage everywhere.
It’s a crisis that’s come home: Walking along shorelines, beaches and the banks of waterways all around the world, we find trash everywhere. Every imaginable form of plastic, aluminum cans, fishing line, metals, glass are littering our shorelines, polluting our waters, killing marine life and detracting from the natural beauty of our world.
We believe we can all work to reverse the problem of marine debris – globally or locally. Groups like the 5 Gyres Institute, cleanup efforts like the annual International Coastal Cleanup, the Trash Wheel Project in Baltimore, Maryland, the Newport Harbor Trash Skimmer in Rhode Island, as well as other innovative solutions give us fresh perspective.
We’re always thinking of ways we can help reverse this daunting problem. As part of the movement, Nicholson Yachts and its nonprofit division Clean Shore in Every Port are dedicated toward raising awareness of the threats to ocean health.
Our latest effort to ensure Nicholson Yachts is part of the solution, not the problem, is this: We advocate onboard use of Aardvark FDA-approved biodegradable straws for your crewed charter. This demonstrates our dedication to providing memorable luxury crewed yacht experiences that are sustainable, too.
As 2017 draws to a close, we’ve been notified that Aardvark, whose product is the only paper drinking straws made in the United States, has made Nicholson Yachts an official partner in its campaign to raise awareness of marine pollution.
Along with Clean Shore and Aardvark, we’re committed to encouraging sustainable practices onboard and on land by our charter fleet as well as the global leisure marine fleet. To find out how your yacht can carry Aardvark straws in custom designs, please contact us at Newport@nicholsonyachts.com
