Belize

Day 1

Arrive at the Belize City airport where a member of the crew will greet you. After a short taxi ride from the airport to the Fort George Hotel and Marina, board the Lady Evangeline and prepare to relax and explore the islands of Belize on your private yacht vacation. Enjoy a light lunch and then explore the area by dinghy, Sea-doo or Laser. After dinner enjoy a soak in the hot tub or possibly begin reading a few chapters of the boats copy of Paul Theroux?s, “Mosquito Coast”.
Day 2
After breakfast we will weigh anchor and depart for Middle Long Cay. Our cruising distance will be approximately 20 miles. Middle Long Cay will provide us with an excellent anchorage where we can launch the tenders and explore other small nearby cays such as Rendezvous Cay. Rendezvous Cay sits directly on top of the Barrier reef and provides excellent diving and snorkeling as well as a beautiful beach.

Day 3

Depart Middle Long Cay and set a course of nearly due South down the Inner Channel for the Fly Range and Garbutt Cay. Cruising distance will be approximately 20 miles. The Fly Range is a group of about two dozen small mangrove islands and Garbutt Cay is a group of nine small cays. This is a great place to anchor Lady Evangeline and explore the waters.

Day 4

Today our cruise will be a short five miles to the Twin Cays. Here we will find a protected lagoon to anchor in. Several manatees are reported to live here and can be seen on a regular basis. From this anchorage we can also visit South-Water Cay by dinghy and have a drink at the Blue Marlin Lodge or have a picnic on the beach.

Day 5

Another short cruise, only eight miles and we will be anchored at Spruce Cay. This is another reef protected lagoon. Spend the day sailing, snorkeling or just relax and do nothing.

Day 6 & 7

Continue south another 4 miles and drop the hook for two days at the Pelican Cays. The Pelican Cays are a cluster of ten mangrove islands that sit atop pillars of coral rising from the surrounding depths of 60 to 70 feet of water. We will be anchored in the deep central lagoon and protected from virtually all winds. This is a great place to explore with the kayaks.

Day 8

Fifteen miles to the southwest is the small coastal village of Placencia. Said to be the “prettiest settlement in Belize”, Placencia has wonderful beaches and several small resorts. This is a great place to anchor and explore the mainland. Guided tours can be arranged to visit the Cockcombe Jaguar Reserve or nearby Mayan ruins.

Day 9

Enjoy breakfast onboard and then stroll the beach of Placencia before having to pack your bags. Your crew will see you safely to the Big Creek Airport where you can catch a flight back to the Belize City Airport.
Please note that this Itinerary is only a “suggestion” of locations and activities that can be done on your private yacht vacation. The Captain is open to ideas and suggestions for the cruising locations in Belize. Weather conditions and safety for the passengers, ship and crew will always be the deciding factor in the itinerary.
